For example, on the PC there is a program called OMB One Man Band by Jos Maas that turns any keyboard or virtual keyboard into an Arranger Workstation.

But to have the ability to have a built in backing band of at least 8 midi tracks, it would be so awesome as an inspirational and compositional tool. It doesn't really need to have a strong soundset as one could always midi out to Roland Sound Canvas and use that as a great sound module. For example, Fiddlewax Pro has almost the UI for something like this to work. Now, my call is to all those developers out there that could design something similar. These workstations allow you to lay the foundation to a song in mere minutes and usually jumpstart the inspiration for new material by playing with the built in backing instruments. They've come a long way now with amazing offerings from Korg PA series, Yamaha Tyros, and Roland offerings. I really enjoyed using my old Korg i30 Interactive Arranger Keyboard. I wonder how many of you guys out there come from a background of using Arranger Keyboards/Synth Workstations.
